The Family Giving Tree Foundation is the culmination of five years of dreaming and planning by the Founder and Director Amy Blankson. Inspired by her experiences as a youth board member of the Corporation for National Service, Amy sought to open the world of philanthropy for the younger generation. However, it was not until she attended the Yale School of Management that she made the important connection between youth giving and family role modeling. Seeking to create a vehicle for philanthropic giving that was inclusive of all families, regardless of income, Amy piloted the Foundation with her family in 2007. The experience of selecting a grantee and delivering the first check was truly uplifting and unifying for the family. Amy proceeded to incorporated the Family Giving Tree Foundation in April 2008, and received its tax-exempt 501c3 status in October 2008. |
